RAYWEST Breathes New Life Into Cape Fear Farm Credit

Cape Fear Farm Credit is committed to North Carolina agriculture, providing loans for rural homeowners, full and part-time farmers, and more. Their mission to be an unwavering lender and for all rural and agricultural communities is at the core of everything they do.

Wanting to bring their outdated Dunn, NC branch office into the 21st century, Cape Fear Farm Credit hired the RAYWEST team to oversee the design and construction of their project. RAYWEST chose to partner with Andrew W. Privette of the American Institute of Architects for the plans and engineering that would go into this project.

Originally built in 1975, the 4,680 square foot building once stood as Dunn’s Production Credit Association office. The space was designed by yet another AIA member, Gordon E. Peebles and built by Turlington & Turlington General Contractors.

Now with an open foyer and vaulted ceilings, the new Cape Fear Farm Credit space is dramatically different than the original design. An airlock was created to meet current codes and provide efficiency and security. New front and rear porches altered the roofline and gave a much-needed enhancement in curb appeal.

Both the break room and bathrooms were brought to ADA standards and heavier, updated finishes were installed throughout. In order to meet today’s technology standards as well, RAYWEST gave the office a completely new IT infrastructure and used LED lighting to bring the office up to date.

No longer in need of a vault, the heavy steel door was creatively replaced with a sliding barn door, providing a subtle connection between Cape Fear Farm Credit and it’s community of agricultural clients.

Coming in on time and budget, this project took five months to complete after being stripped down to the four exterior walls during demolition. RAYWEST DESIGNBUILD is proud to have been chosen by Cape Fear Farm Credit for this dramatic and successful renovation project.
